With this Warband I approached a rather sinister look. I wanted to transmit the feeling of the grimdark future of the 40k universe with all it’s depth. A lot of flat black colour, gold and metal parts and the striking red of the leader’s armour.
I want to give this grim feeling to all my projects but I think especially Inquisitorial warbands are a perfect way to try out different things and looks.
Crafting-wise I tried a few new things. It was the first time I used Tamiya Clear Red on a bigger scale i.e. on the Inquisitor’s armour and I’m pretty happy with the outcome. I especially like the contrast between the shiny armour and dull fabric and the matte base covered with pigments and rust.
I also cutted some parts of the edges of the bases to make them more dynamic and distorted. The inspiration came from Iron Sleeter Migs (@migsula) where I saw it first.
Another special in this warband is the Ark of Purity. A vehicle which carries a daemonhost under a holographic shield.
This miniature is completely scratchbuilt. I took inspiration from the awesome @FPOA. Also before I primed it, I used plastic glue to create a slightly corroded texture on the black armour plates of the ark. With every project I learn that texture underneath the paint is such an important thing.
This and a few other things made this project special to me. I’m happy with how everything turned out and I learned new stuff, which is always a good thing.
I hope you enjoy the miniatures!
