Hello friends,

I think a Land Raider is always a center piece of a Space Marine army. To me a Land Raider Crusader even more. So I wanted to give it a special paintjob. For ‘normal’ tanks like Rhinos, Razorbacks etc I want only the doors in secondary chapter colors like I did on this Rhino. But I wanted the Land Raider Crusader to stand out a bit more. As some kind of special vehicle. Maybe carrying the chapter master? The diagonal chapter colours are also on the standards of my marine squads. I think it’s a nice way to break up the strict pattern of only having the doors painted.

I recently read the Horus Heresy Mechanicus novel and I love how each of the Knights and other machines have their own behaviours and personalities and how they interact with their riders. Some of the 40k vehicles (the Land Raider is one of them) still have their Machine Spirit and I just love that. A thinking machine, almost like it’s alive with it’s own personality.
